| Introduction | Today, February 1st, marks the first official day of my training for the inaugural Trans American Bike Race. The TransAm is a non-stop, non-supported bike race which leaves from Astoria, Oregon, on June 7th with its final destination being Yorktown, Virginia. The 4200+ mile route follows the Adventure Cycling TransAm course coast to coast with over 211,000' vertical feet of climbing. It is by far the most ambitious cycling challenge of my life. This blog is written to chronicle this 63 year old's training and preparation on a near-daily basis as I strive to train my mind, body, and spirit for such an adventure. This race does come with many risks. Let it be said that I am at peace with my Creator...my Lord, my Savior Jesus Christ. Anyway...let the show begin. |
