Introduction Deb Pahl’s illustrious writing career began in the third grade with her first-place promotional poster for St. Stan’s annual “Polka Fest & Bunco Party.” After a brief sojourn into law — inspired by “The Verdict” starring Paul Newman — she retreated into the journalism department of Ball State University in Muncie, IN, a school once nationally ranked as “One of the Best Party Schools in America.” It was there where she fine-tuned her craft and developed her passion for a career that would let her wear flip-flops. Deb currently spends Sunday nights drinking copious amounts of wine, watching Mad Men and trying to convince her mom, Dar, that “yes, people really do earn a living this way.” She is happy to call Chicago home – except in the winter or when her car is broken into.
