| Introduction | Nancy Kay Lendborg: A dog lover, It is my delight to live with an extraordinary Welsh Corgi, aptly named, Scooter. I have written a number of whimsical children's stories about him, in an effort to capture & share his curious essence. I have found this unique pup as the source of a reservoir of many "tales"! Scooter provides the reader with warmth, whimsy, and, a dab of irony, as well as his innate quickness and quirkiness! My first story,"It Had To Be Scooter",describes the quest my husband,Steve and I took to find just the pup who became the ideal,"Scooter". Feel the tempo quicken, as we take you on an adventure in our red truck; seeking a pup fit to fill those paws! As a veteran Milwaukee and Madison, WI school teacher, I have read hundreds of captivating stories to youngsters over many years. In 2005, I was chosen as a Fulbright Scholar to study the culture, heritage, education systems in Thailand, Laos, & Viet Nam. While abroad, I also model taught for educators in Asia. I brought my experiences home to share with WI educators and utilized this learning within my classroom. |

Your pajamas have duckies on them. Why did you switch from choo-choos?
I was perfectly satisfied snuggling under my down comforter and repeating my nightly mantra, "I think I can,..." with the little engine guiding me off to sleep, until...I read Robert McCloskey's "Make Way For Ducklings". I was hooked by the image of that policeman blowing the daylights out of his whistle and directing traffic for the "Duck" family! Honest, there is no turning back!
