Introduction	i like languages. i know enough korean and japanese to get by and have been studying chinese, italian, german, and swiss (german). i like cities. yes, it's crowded, expensive, and messy. but if one gets over these minor snags, one will see that the city offers a lot. there's always something to do, people to meet, places to go to, and different foods to eat. i am starting my phD in linguistics at UCLA this fall. this is my first attempt at a real career.
