| Introduction | After a lifetime of unapologetic and mostly unexamined meat eating, I am now vegan. I started out as a pescetarian and then vegetarian. It took about a year for me to go vegan and no, it's not that hard and yes, you can live without cheese. On this blog, I explore connections between food and relationships, animal rights, health, and the simple joy that comes from stumbling across a great new recipe or meal. I was born in Zaragoza, Spain and raised in the Bronx, Manhattan, and central New Jersey. I currently live in Philadelphia, PA with my husband, Brian and our adopted dog, Benji. I am a graduate of Rutgers University, where I studied psychology and English literature. For a few years, I was an editor at a medical journal. Now I am a full-time housewife, part-time community college student, rarely a doula and will enroll in nursing school in 2011 to become a certified nurse-midwife. My other writing has been published in BUST, Elle, and Guitar World, albeit as letters to the editor but you've got to start somewhere.
