Introduction Kelly Gunter Atlas spent a great deal of her early childhood in her grandmother’s haunted house. In addition to that, her earliest memories are of watching Dark Shadows every afternoon as a child. Her favorite films were the old Universal monster movies and Hammer vampire flicks. An avid reader from a very early age, she grew up devouring Bram Stoker, Edgar Allan Poe, M.R. James, Shirley Jackson, and every Gothic romance paperback from the sixties and seventies that she could get her hands on. Kelly composed her first poem at age five and her first short story at the ripe old age of fourteen. Formerly the editor and publisher of Bloodreams Publications, which included Bloodreams Magazine, Spectre Magazine, Bloodreams Online, Children of the Shadows, Gothic Gateway and Collective Cauldron I and II, Kelly’s poetry, short fiction, essays and articles have appeared in numerous small press publications and online over the years. She served a short stint as editorial assistant at the Little Rock Free Press Newspaper during the mid-nineties. She was also editor of, and a contributing writer to, Nobody: an anthology of Dark Fiction by EWAG: Essex Writers' & Artists' Guild.
