My blogs
| Introduction | The act of taking a very flat piece of fabric and turning it into a very 3 dimensional object captures my imagination. Some people say they enjoying "having sewn" more than they enjoying "sewing". While I freely admit to a burst of pleasure at bringing something to completion, I think I have to say that I enjoy "sewing" more than "having sewn". Having completed an object, I am finished with it. I may certainly use it, or look back on in it with pleasure, but it no longer captivates me. I am constantly starting new projects, often before the old one's are finished, and it is the act of making that keeps me working--not the fact of having completed. Since I find sewing to be so enjoyable (yet, of course, frustrating, confusing and difficult at times), this makes the more difficult levels of sewing very appealing to me--never mind that I will probably never have a practical use for those skills! This blog was started for several reasons. I wanted to write down my thoughts for my own reflection and future reference. And I was hoping that those with the same interest would find me, so that I, in turn, could find them. |
