Introduction	Welcome to blogs from the participants in NURS 7106 Context for Advancing Science -a new course in the PhD program at the University of Utah College of Nursing. This course is designed to examine the current socio-political, economic, and technologic context for advancing knowledge. We are examining key public health problems and their relationship to the national research agenda and priorities. We will evaluate major paradigm shifts in society and discuss the influence of such shifts on the advancement of science including funding for research and the relationship of science to initiatives to build a culture of health.
