| Introduction | "Native Emigrant" is a semi-nonsensical name resulting from my move to Hawaii from the mainland, U.S.A. Some Native Hawaiians would like to undo the process that resulted in Hawaii becoming a state. That, plus the influences, customs, and practices that have arrived with the immigrants from many different countries, have resulted in a different sort of society than is found elsewhere in the U.S. This often leads me to feel that I live in a foreign country, though it is still officially my own. |
