| Introduction | I grew up in a Marine Corps family; my father retired from the USMC as a Master Gunnery Sergeant (E9), retiring after 35 years; my mother was in the Marine Corps for ten years; got out as Staff Sergeant (E6). Ever heard of the joke "Your mother wears Army boots?" Well, whenever I was (sarcastically) told that, I quickly corrected them, saying, "She wears MARINE CORPS BOOTS...I know, she taught me how to spit shine them!" Ahhh...the look of dismay in the eyes of those who thought they would 'tear me down' with such a comment..(one point for me)! I have three younger sisters and fully realize how greatly blessed I am to have lived and experienced my life as I have to this very day. |
