Introduction | It’s hard to believe that I have been writing here for 9 years. When I started, my oldest was 15 and now he is a “launched” adult on the spectrum, holding down a job, owning a vehicle, and living (mostly) on his own. Those years of parenting a child with special needs were challenging, but what a reward when we look at how far he has come. My daughter is approaching her senior year at UGA- go bulldogs. She is expected to earn a dual degree in genetics and engineering and is currently shopping for grad schools. The fight to secure an education for the gifted one, was every bit a trial as doing it for the one with an IEP. PTA continues to be a part of my life, even though I have no kids in K-12 schooling. I am able to advocate for children in general and my children in specific. I urge everyone to become a member of an organization that promotes the welfare of children at every level. We run a small business out of the house on top of both my husband and I being employed outside the home. I have worked as a resource room and consultant teacher for many years at several private schools in the area. |
Interests | I do lots of reading on many things, but especially education, business, and fantasy. I enjoy embroidery and quilting. |
