Introduction	Members of the Ventura Deep Six Relay Team are all part of the Ventura County Masters (VCM) swim team, a United States Masters Swimming registered club. This is the adult team of the Buenaventura Swim Club. VCM finished second for men and seventh overall (combined men & women) in the nation at the 2010 USMS National Championships in Atlanta. On September 16, Mike Shaffer, Jim McConica, Kurt Baron, Tom Ball, John Chung, and Jim Neitz will start the relay from Ventura's Harbor Cove Beach. Switching every hour, the swimmers will head north to the Santa Barbara Pier. After a "flip turn" on a pier piling, the team will head south to La Jolla Cove in San Diego. They expect to complete the swim during the day on Sunday, September 19. The Ventura Deep Six relay team plans to surpass the existing 78-mile world standard.
