| Introduction | I'm a junior in college, and one of my more recent hobbies is baking. I love to get in the kitchen and just create. Being able to bake successfully is a skill I would like to have, and I find learning to be a fun and interesting experience. Because neither of my parents really bake, I end up trying to teach myself quite often, a process which usually involves picking a recipe that sounds appealing and just going for it. Sometimes I succeed, ending up with great tasting desserts. Sometimes I don't, getting more of an interesting story out of the experience than anything edible. Then there are those in-between occasions, like when something tastes great but its texture is slightly off. Whatever happens, whether I achieve the desired result, mess up entirely, or come close, I generally end up with aspects I would like to (or should) try differently the next time. This blog is where I plan to chronicle my projects...keep a record of how they went and what I learned, sort of compiling my own collection of recipes I can make. Basically, these are my attempts to move beyond the brownies, trying to learn something a little more out of the box. |
