Introduction	The desire to write has been a presence in my life as long as I can remember. The lack of confidence in my ability to write has also been a presence in my life as long as I can remember. My determination to set down on paper all those things I want to write about, that is, family, hopes, dreams, frustrations, sorrows, finally took hold of me when we moved to New Mexico in 1989, and became even stronger after the death of my parents 46 days apart the winter of 1992-1993.
