| Introduction | PATIENCE: Man, have I learned what it means to be patient just by working on a few DIY projects. You should know that no project is easy or fast. In fact, most of my projects have required me to do it one way, then completely tear it apart, and try it another way. After doing that two or three times, my patience is running thin- but that's when you need it the most. After all, why settle when you have spent so much time on it already? PASSION: If you aren't passionate about the project, you will lose motivation and it won't be fun. Most of my projects are refurbishing items that I either already had or bought for really cheap- so just be creative and have fun. If you hate it in the end, scrap it and start over- or move on to something else. This isn't my job, it's my hobby. So don't make it any more stressful than in needs to be. POWER TOOLS: They are your best friend when it comes to DIY projects. Seriously. Once you have to hand sand the minute details on a chair for hours, you will be really grateful when you get to use a power sander again. Power tools make the projects go faster and turn out better. So don't be afraid of them. |
