Peaceful Quilting
My blogs
| Introduction | This blog is a way for me to share the love I have for quilting and fabric art as a means of creative meditation. I began quilting in the early 90's and did it on and off as I had the time. My first few quilts although not necessarily square or all that creative, were a process I found incredibly calming and relaxing. I was raising three kids at the time, one with significant special needs and juggling the everyday demands of life. As the years went by and I lost my child with special needs, my daughters grew and my grandson was born, I found quilting was my salvation. I could focus my energies on the fabrics and colors, designs and the process and it took away the pain or made me more joyful. I have since learned the healing quality of quilts which provide warmth but also relief from pain as medallion quilts do, a cheerful distraction to sick babies in neonatal units and a comforting way to bring back memories of those we love. I have made quilts for all of these reasons and as I grow as a quilter and an artist I hope to expand my abilities through art, function, form and fabric!! Please enjoy my work. |
