IntroductionBold. Abstract. Decorative. Silkscreened apparel from KimmChi. I am a New York based designer using the eclectic influences of global decoration as my inspiration for designs to silkscreen on to women's apparel. From the all pervasive paisley from the Indian culture to the iconic star bursts of Japanese designs. Many of these shapes and motifs repeat throughout various traditions and create a visual language of decoration. I use these as inspiration to design in a bold, clean style with bright colors and crisp edges. Fluid, crisp and feminine. My materials and supplies reflect my desire to add a bit of green to my line without sacrificing quality and price: American-made garments silkscreened with only water based non-toxic ink. The soft 100% cotton shirts are printed in small runs, leaving tons of flexibility for varied color combinations for each season and personal style. I studied Art History at Boston University and Graphic Design at The New School. My graphic tee's have also been featured on ABC News, New York Newsday and the film, The Locksmith.
