Introduction The 1600km motorcycle tour "Biblio Turismo 2006 Springwood to Cootamundra" -- was organised by Gosford City Council staff to help raise awareness about country libraries and encourage younger people to the profession. Council's Library Services Manager, Alan Flores, said that the three-day event was a great way to break down the stereotype of librarians being quiet and conservative. "The profession's average age is 45 years old, so this was a way of showcasing to youth that you can be a librarian and still have fun," said Mr. Flores. "While standing out the front of Cootamundra library in our bike gear, we heard a couple of young kids say 'they couldn't be librarians -- they're too cool for that'." Gosford librarians, Rebecca Rouse and Nicole Shearer, joined the ride along with librarians from Manly, Parramatta, Blacktown, Rockdale, North Sydney, Griffith and Canberra.
