| Introduction | Andre Aste, multi-faceted artist, painter, writer and set designer, had a “sui generis” education: in 2001 he received a Master’s Degree in Philosophy of Language at the University of Vercelli. These studies led him to undertake an artistic and philosophical research on meaning and spatial deformations from which his personal style originates. His works have appeared in Italy and abroad, including Holland, Spain and the USA. In 2007, Aste founded the art movement “The Charioteer” with Gianluca Polastri, and “Convivia”, the art and philosophy magazine of which he is acting director. In the same year, “Non dire mai il suo nome” (Never Say its Name), an autobiographical novel whose story develops through a series of letters, poetry and illustrations was nominated as one of the top five books of poetry by the prestigious Carver Prize. Aste has collaborated with several major advertising agencies and publishing houses as writer and illustrator. In 2008, he was invited by the University of Turin to lecture on his research (that constitutes the bases of his experimentation) on the role of categorization, physics and human perception on artistic expression. |
