Introduction I'm a Master's candidate at ASU (Religious Studies / PoliSci) with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies / Humanities. I'm hoping, once I complete my graduate degree, to teach at the high school / Community College level. I'd like to develop a curriculum that has a little bit of religious studies, a little bit of cultural studies, a little bit of civics, and a little bit of philosophy / rhetoric / logic. I sometimes also think about running for local office, particularly school board-ish positions, because I think we are doing our young people a disservice by dumbing down our curricula and teaching them to memorize material for tests, rather than teaching them about the way the world works. Additionally, I think there's too much emphasis on tolerance and not enough on engagement; one can tolerate another who is different by simply allowing him (or her) to exist, while still hating. When one engages with another and discovers things in common rather than focusing on things that are different, hatred is a lot more difficult.
