| Introduction | Hi! I'm Kate and I'm a new blogger and a new teacher. I live with my husband and our two dogs in Athens, GA. I just took a position as an art teacher in two Title I public schools south of Athens. That means the first half of the year I will be at one school and the second half another. I hope that this blog will shed some light on the struggles and the joys of teaching for the first time. I will warn you all that I am no writer. Hopefully my photography will do most of the talking for me. Most of all, I'm excited about connecting with other teachers out there who are also teaching in Title I schools. This blog will definitely be an experiment. My first priority will be my students and that may mean that I will need to cut down on posts so that I don't wear myself thin. I hope you all understand. | Interests | working with children, the natural world, bodies of water, the everyday, sitting on porches, swimming, climbing, and canoeing, cooking very complicated meals, growing things outside, rocks and bugs |
| Favorite movies | 80s horror movies, documentaries that make me weep, nostalgic kid movies (The Sandlot, Stand By Me, ET, The Goonies, etc.), some really old stuff (like before color and sound), slapstick comedy, and movies that have fans who dress up in costumes opening night. |
| Favorite music | my husband's "porch pickin," old timey music, honkey tonk, classic country, old school rap, anything that takes me back to the good old days. |
| Favorite books | Classic literature, a scifi novel every once in awhile, sometimes stuff about Vampires and Werewolves, also the good stuff that they made you read in high school and you never appreciated until now. |
