Introduction Doug Street has been a sports writer for 10 years and a baseball writer for seven years. After working for one year in news at The Daily News in McKeesport, Pa. in 1998, Doug worked for the Bluefield Daily Telegraph in Bluefield, W. Va. for almost two years. There, he covered a number of different sports including the Bluefield Orioles and the Princeton Devil Rays of the Appalachian League for two seasons. The first of those seasons (1999), he covered the first professional seasons of future All-Stars Josh Hamilton and Carl Crawford. After working at The Roanoke Times in Roanoke, Va. for four months, Doug returned home to The Daily News where he covered the Pittsburgh Steelers for 1 1/2 years including the entire 2001 season. In April, 2002, Doug moved on to the Observer-Reporter in Washington, Pa. where he worked for almost seven years. His main beat was covering the Pirates which he did until leaving the paper in February of 2009. He also covered the 2006 All-Star Game in Pittsburgh. Doug, a graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School and Penn State University, lives in Canonsburg, Pa. with his wife Lisa and three children.
