| Introduction | When I look back over all my work, I can see that my favourite subjects reflect the post-industrial landscape that I have grown up with here in the East Midlands. I am fascinated with buildings that were once thriving manufacturing hubs or houses that have decades of lived history. To me a row of terrace houses has as much to say as a stately home. When I paint buildings, I do so with respect to those that built and those that lived and worked within them, each one has a story to tell. When I paint the landscape, I begin by imagining how geology has formed it over time and how humans may have manipulated it to suit their needs. Using collage, mixed media, and acrylic paint I hope to express layers of history and heritage within my art. |
