Introduction My name is Andrew Ellis, I am 32 years old. In the spring of 2013 I began the application process for the Peace Corps. This blog is the result of being accepted into the environment program for Malawi in southern Africa. I grew up romping around in the local ponds and woods near my house in Kansas City, and developed an early love for ecology. I was particularly passionate for herpetology - the study of reptiles and amphibians. After a few years of sorting out just exactly what I wanted to pursue in life, I graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a B.S. in Ecology in 2008. Since that time I have worked as a staff biologist for an environmental consulting company, as a server at a beer restaurant, and as a professional bike mechanic before finally entering into the Peace Corps. Prior to making my way to my current home in Malawi I spent the vast majority of my free time either mountain biking or rock climbing (see above pic). I absolutely love where life has taken me, and as I get older I feel it only gets better. I am having a fantastic time in Malawi, and can't wait to share my experiences with friends and family when I return to the United States.
