Introduction	I am 29 years old, the mother of one beautiful one year old, and wife to the most amazing husband in the world. After 16 diagnosed years with Ulcerative Colitis, I underwent a total colectomy and J-Pouch construction in February 2012. In an attempt to prepare for my surgery, I visited as many websites as possible to gather information about what was about to happen to me. Many of the most helpful sites were blogs created by people who had been through what I was about to go through. To these people I owe so much. I have laughed and cried with you due to the power of your words, and of the internet, which connected our hearts. This is my attempt to pay it forward. I hope my story helps those who are coping with this disease to find the strength to continue the fight.
