| Introduction | Welcome to my blog. It will contain a collection of my essays and new ones as they’re written. Many have been published over the years in the Socialist Standard - but some have been considered too controversial for even that most revolutionary journal! My motivation for writing is twofold: firstly I find it a great aid in structuring my own thoughts on a given subject and, secondly, I attempt to communicate ideas (which by many are considered complex) hopefully making them accessible to anyone prepared to think. As with all writers on politics I have not attempted to reinvent the wheel and so I am indebted to the great thinkers of the past including: Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud, Herbert Marcuse, Theodore Adorno, Christopher Hill and many others in the radical tradition of Western thought. I do not, of course, think of my efforts here as anything like approaching their genius but if I can help motivate others to read the great works then my work will not have been in vain. Politics is about power in human society and as well as being vitally important if we are to liberate ourselves from our contemporary travails it also contains the thrill of human potential. |
