| Introduction | My work on the New Humanities began more than a decade ago when Kurt Spellmeyer and I committed ourselves to reimagining the content and the goals of the first-year writing course at Rutgers. That project gave rise to my ongoing collaboration with Paul Hammond, who has joined me in the ongoing project of exploring what it could mean and what it would take to focus work in the humanities on improving the quality of life. |
