| Introduction | My name is Robert Schalkoff. I am originally from the USA, but have been living and working in Japan for the past 20 years. I am currently Associate Professor of English Education at Yamaguchi Prefectural University, Yamaguchi, Japan, and am working on my doctorate in Adult and Higher Education at Northern Illinois University, USA. My research interests include the development of teaching expertise, EFL teaching methodology, and the connection between initial and continuing professional education.
