| Introduction | I suppose I'd be remiss to have a poetry blog without some mention of the poets who influence me. The fact is, that list changes all the time. It'd be easier to list who doesn't influence me, and completely honest to have that list empty. I think in art we all exert some negative or positive force on each other's work, some push and pull. John Ashbery is probably the loudest voice in my working mind (though Marianne Moore is begin to chatter back), the odes of Keats and sonnets of Shakespeare shine the brightest, the moods of Plath and Lowell pound the hardest, and the music of Wallace Stevens blows through like the Sirens'. In the corner, demure and silent, stands Emily Dickinson staring directly at me. |
