About me

Introduction Lynn Fitzgerald holds an M.A. from the University of Illinois Writers’ Program, and is a high school English teacher, college English professor and a writer. Her work has appeared in: After Hours, Kalliope, Word Salad, Amused, The English Journal, Outrider Press, Chicago Area Writers, the Reader, Lerner Newspapers, Illuminated Muse, Urban Nation, and the Anthology of Chicago Poets. She received the Joanne Hirshfield award for her poem, Florence. Her manuscript, Closer to the Earth, for which she received a CAAP Award for artistic merit, is now a chapbook, published by Moon Journal Press and is available at bookstores and on line. She is first generation Irish-American on her mother’s side and the eldest of six children. She grew up in a suburb of Chicago, known for its idyllic surroundings and large families.
