| Introduction | I am Ilia A Powell. I was born in East Chicago In and reared both there and later Gary In. I’m the daughter of the first black woman in personnel at what was Inland Steel, and my dad worked there until retirement. I have one living sister, Leslie and one brother, Clyde whom has passed. I have two children, daughter Jaquel and son Jarek. I’m also the proud Bibi(Swahili for Grandmother) to two beautiful girls, Serenity and Bai’Lee. I will be retiring shortly from a credit union I’ve been employed at for over 35 years. I started this blog out of my deep love of the written word, to inspire and empower, and to share knowledge of subjects I’ve obtained along life’s journey. My hope is assist some to think outside the box, to remind them of how much they are loved, and add a little humor in a world that is fast becoming humorless. |
