IntroductionWe have lived in Spain since late 2004 and in Culebrón since early 2005. Our location is essentially rural and Culebrón, our village, is little more than a wide spot in the road. Culebrón is a satellite village of Pinoso, a small town of around 8,000 people, including many immigrant Britons. Although we are in Alicante province, part of the Comunidad Valenciana, we’re right on the Murcian border. I am now retired but my wife, Maggie, still works for an estate agent in Pinoso. It was her finding work as a teacher in the area that made our move to Spain possible. Later, when she was still teaching we moved, for her work, to Ciudad Rodrigo, Salamanca, then Cartagena and La Unión, Murcia but we've always kept the house in Culebrón and we've been settled back here for years now. We moved to Spain for positive reasons, not because we disliked Britain. The biggest difference, day to day, is the language and after 20 years of hand to hand combat I am still nowhere near fluent. But Spain is a good place to live and I have never once thought the move here was a mistake.
