| Introduction | I was never a huge fan of blogging, and there's nothing like traveling to Sub-Saharan Africa to become technologically savvy, right? But in the spirit of Peace Corps I've decided to become selfless in my experiences and share with you what it's like to become an American expat in Kenya. To travel so far and see so much would be an utter waste if I wasn't able to bring you into my world. I plan on learning a lifetime of values, and with this blog, expressing what I've learned along the way. Finally, here is a quote which helped me decide to volunteer overseas, it also serves as a constant reminder that in this learning process I will be a student first, and a teacher second: "Volunteering overseas can be a rewarding and enriching experience. But that requires sympathy, reciprocity, willingness to learn as well as to give, and an understanding of the problems and opportunities….” - Noam Chompsky (Yes, I got the name for my blog from the Spike Lee movie, because it's awesome.) |
