Location | County Durham, United Kingdom |
Introduction | Hello everyone, thanks for looking in. I'm a fifty-something caring crafter, in the process of moving into a sweet little 1930's house in the north of england, and looking forward to sharing everyday experiences, crafting triumphs and wintery walks with you! Photo's coming soon so watch this space x love pamela x |
Interests | stitchcrafts, patchwork, quilting, knitting, crochet, photographing wildlife, country walks, forests lakes and mountains, vegan foods, cruelty-free living, thrifting, reading, film, music especially folk/country, blogging!, finishing projects, and de-cluttering!!! |
Favorite Movies | So many! Love to be totally drawn into and absorbed by film, especially where the location forms a 'character' of it's own. Or where there's a powerful story and an era to portray. Lets see, Brokeback Mountain, Cold Mountain, Schindler's List, The Colour Purple, oooh so many! |
Favorite Music | Anything that makes my heart sing! Emmylou, Coldplay, anything from the sixties, ditto the seventies, Joni, Richard Thompson, Runrig, Lindisfarne, CSN&Y, and more;) |
Favorite Books | As a child I got lost in What Katy Did, Little Women, Robin Hood, Jane Eyre, The Oregon Trail; Comics were Judy and Bunty, later came magazines Melody Maker, NME, Mirabelle and Petticoat; I the seventies I revelled in Valley of the Dolls, the Charles Manson story, Papillon, Alive! ; The eighties were spent reading children's stories at bedtime, recipe books and knitting patterns; In the nineties I returned to reading anew, awoken by Thomas Hardy and Far from the Madding Crowd followed by most of his works, then Alice Walker's The Colour Purple, Biographies, Poetry especially Billy Collins, and Seamus Heaney, John Steinbeck, Howard Jacobson, Thomas Harris, enthralled by Peter Ackroyd's 'Hawksmoor', Pepsy's diaries, Ben Okri, Oondjaati, was totally inspired by Maya Angelou, Annie Proulx, Pat Barker and her trilogy of WW1 post traumatic stress, grrrr impossible to list them all. In the last two years probably one or two a week, mostly new published, often first works, subjects covering immigrants' experiences, Afghanistan, family, crime/political thriller. Larsson's Millenium Trilogy. And then there are travel books. And vegan cookbooks. And raw food uncook books. Favourite books? Cold Mountain by Fraser comes close. Think I'll have to blog about books... Hmmm...... |
