About me

Introduction The Interior Architecture and Design (IAD) degree course occupies a challenging and innovative position in modern Russian design and focuses on the creative improvement of existing, and new, internal and external spaces in a thoughtful and contemporary way. Fundamentally the course is about making the everyday world better for everyone to enjoy. This means looking, understanding and proposing solutions at a variety of scales from a new door handle to the significant reconsideration of a city block. Central to this is an understanding of how people interact with the material, environmental, sensual, emotional, functional and cultural qualities of a specific space or situation. The IAD programme stands apart by bringing an architectural approach to spaces, temporary buildings and installations that transcends voguish trends to focus on design, making and the narrative of occupation. All design projects are located in real situations with real problems, users and clients. This blog is written and managed by first year students to describe and discuss the spaces around them.
