Introduction	I’m the mama, the non-biological mum, the ‘other mother’ of a one year old daughter, E. Lesbian families are unusual but getting less so. As reproductive technologies and legal protection increase, and homophobia decreases, more and more lesbian families will be out and proud. Being mama has meant taking a sideways look at the strange experience of parenthood. Not quite mum, certainly not dad, making up a new role the best I can. So, here’s my story – E lives with her two mummies: my partner R and myself. She also has a daddy and a papa, we’ll call them D and P.
