| Introduction | While traveling through the south, possibly Alabama, I was listening to a local gardening call in show for about a 100 miles. (I may have been speeding a tad) I sincerely thought the name of the show was Pissed Off Gardener. It seemed a little edgy for NPR but I thought it was a great name. Countless times I had promised neighbors and coworkers tomatoes, squash and other bounty from my garden in anticipation of a fruitful harvest. Just when I would be ready to harvest, something (insects, squirrels or fungus) would destroy all of my gardening dreams. Gardening is equaling frustrating and rewarding. Oh, turns out the name of the Garden hour was actually the name of the town: Gustav Gardener. The local accent sure made it sound like pissed off. We gardeners are an optimistic lot and always look forward to the next growing season. Thanks for taking the time to share this gardening journey. |
