Introduction | "Electric Blue in Glide?" As you might surmise from my Interests list, my tastes are varied and wide-ranging.I am a writer, technical writer (there is a difference), a former Waldorf high school and middle school teacher. I am the proverbial "Elephant's Child," whose insatiable curiosity, far from getting me in trouble, is usually of great assistance in tying together generally disparate ideas into a cohesive theme. At least I hope so... Oh: The title refers to, and is a play on words, of the movie, "Electric Glide in Blue," with Robert Blake. I ride, among other things, a Rivendell Rambouillet that is really eye-piercingly blue. Not my taste, but Hey! when you work there, and the boss says, you need a bike... |
Interests | Long distance cycling, natural history, historical fiction, Ukiyo-e, calligraphy, watercolor painting, foreign films, vintage Warner Bros. cartoons directed by Friz Freleng (guilty pleasure) |
Favorite Movies | The "self-portait" says it all. Kubrick's masterpiece of satire is my favorite film. I was named for Mr. Relyea, aka Sterling Hayden. I also met him once, hiking in the Marin Headlands. |
Favorite Music | My tastes in music are catholic and eclectic. But currently, I'd have to say that my favorite music is Shooglenifty, Radiohead, pre-Phil Collins Genesis, Ralph Vaughn Williams, Herbert Howells, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Dvorak, Keith Jarrett, Pat Metheny, Jaco Pastorius, Weather Report, Django Reinhardt, Stephane Grappelli, amongst others. |
Favorite Books | Like music, my tastes are wide-ranging. Currently, I'm either reading or re-reading Mark Helprin's "Winter Tales, " Stephen Saylor's "SubRosa, Gordianus the Finder" series, Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey/Maturin series, "The Sparrow" and "Children of God, " by Mary Doria Russell |
You've written a hit musical! How will you avoid having fame go to your head?
Avoid the public.
