| Introduction | Selkie LLC is a recently started company producing wooden Alaia surfboards in Portland, OR. Selkie hopes to expand to other environmentally and socially conscious products in the future. A Selkie is a mythical creature featured in Scottish and Irish folklore, probably originating in the Shetland and Orkney Islands. Seals upon the sea, Selkies could remove their skin and take human form upon land to bask in the sun. They are known to have a seductive power over humans. "The Great Silkie" is a traditional ballad from the islands about a Selkie coming to claim his son. Boards will be available for purchase at Gorge Performance.
