Ear Full of Pumpkin

Location	Kansas City, Missouri
Introduction	My husband and I are both ministers, and we serve(d) churches that run pumpkin patches which fund/raise money for little things, like feeding people and making sure that others, have electricity in the winter time. And we are deeply tied to a company called Pumpkins USA in order to facilitate this outreach fundraiser. We have fun, we make a little money... but on October 31, we're left to figure out what to do with all of the leftover pumpkins that didn't sell. And this is the blog that came out of standing in my kitchen with three, 30 gallon bags of sugar pie pumpkins at my feet, all waiting to be de-stemmed, broiled, and pureed... Let's just say, I conquered. And was left with the equivalent of 25 cans of pumpkin puree in my freezer. But not before getting puree on top of my dogs head, in my coffee pot and under my kitchen cabinets. And of course... with pumpkin in my ear. And now we're into year number four...the novelty has worn off a bit, but I just can't seem to help myself... and I find myself in the kitchen... with an ear full of pumpkin once more!
