Introduction | I grew up under the Maple leaf in British Columbia, and now I’m back in the shadow of the mountains—this time in Colorado. As a child, I loved to write letters to pen pals and little stories for school assignments. In junior high, I started a newsletter with friends to help students keep track of school happenings. When my family moved and I started at a new school in grade 11, I left friends and familiarity behind, but my passion for writing followed me. I took on the role as assistant editor, and then editor of the award-winning school newspaper. I headed off to university to pursue a bachelor's degree in journalism and an associate's degree in broadcasting. The plethora of activities in my college experience included writing for and editing the student newspaper, and copy editing the year book. I also wrote for local newspapers, and did two news writing internships. Diploma in hand, I headed off to work as a small-town newspaper editor before moving for a Colorado job. There, I've written and edited for a magazine, webzine, brochures, press releases, newsletters, event programs, and much more. I've also had the opportunity to freelance write and edit. |
