| Introduction | I grew up east of San Francisco where cows still grazed the sun scorched hills and little league baseball filled my days. I am the daughter of a mechanic and small-business owner. For me, life and imagination went hand in hand. I needed to create. Lincoln logs and legos were a portal into another world, that is until reality sunk in and I had to grow up. Architecture school took me to Eugene, Oregon and as life unraveled I found God, or better yet God found me. Without much of a plan I embarked on a journey to Siberia, where I would once again find my need for artistic expression. Color and shape were a way for me to express my feelings and communicate with my maker. Now, it's several years later and I'm living in Long Island City, NY. I paint... casting fear aside along with perfectionism. This allows me to explore, expose, and reflect hidden hopes, fears, and truths. Acrylic, charcoal, pastels, and mixed media are all ways I am learning to share my inner voice and my true self with others. Sometimes however, making art is pure play bringing that lego loving child back out and into this beautiful world that is full of possibilities. |
