IntroductionShould I attempt to sound intelligent and cultured? Pretentious and uppity? Creative and original? Down to earth and sporty? Sensitive and devout? Ummm... maybe we'll just try all the above and be me: Reading BUT I am such a British historical fiction snob (though the whole Welsh thing is quite appealing). Shopping BUT only when I can spend wicked amounts of MY own money without cringing or feeling any remorse come two stores later. Working BUT only when I can be productive, drawing all the motivation from dreams of grandeur and success. Sports games BUT only when it's MY team and MY team is winning. Add in some choice beverages and perhaps I can put up with YOUR team. Learning BUT only things which make me feel smarter...i.e. do I really care about whether or not I can rewire the cable box? Seriously now. Socializing BUT only if I can be social with other social individuals doing all that a social life could possibly allow.
InterestsLooking for myself, Bewildering people with my Patriots/NFL knowledge (and I have now officially turned Yankee fan, thanks to the Asian influence of Wang), Buying materialistic items I really can't afford, Enjoying life ("socializing - take it as you like"), Walking aimlessly around the City, Reading (especially about British nobility - born wrong century, wrong country, wrong socio-economic level!!!!!), Finding what I'm passionate about, Being the "Narcissus Queen", whomever she may feel like being at the time....I was once told - "Your inner desire is fame. You want to make yourself know to everyone, and you enjoy attention. You are probably very popular and have many friends. Keep up that outgoing attitude of yours and you'll be on your way to stardom in no time!" What do you think????
Favorite moviesGone With The Wind, Love Actually (I'm such a sap when I'm in the mood), About a Boy (get the idea of the British/ London-based themes?), Phantom of the Opera (even without a live Sarah Brightman), Star Wars III (it was all about the love!), Robotech: The Macross Saga (I believe Lisa Hayes was a hapa girl like me...), Underworld/Underworld Evolution (there's just something 'bout being a woman with power, be it supernatural, a crown, etc., etc.), Elizabeth and Elizabeth: The Golden Age/Elizabeth, I (I openly crave to be British nobility - Duchess, Countess, Marchioness, I'm not too picky), Lost in Translation, X-Men (especially note III - Dark Phoenix...my childhood hero and really, 75% of comic books-turned-movies), Bring It On (should have been a cheerleader vs. my 12-year stint as a flutist), Harry Potter (by the time the movie debuts, you've read and forgotten ALL the details of the book two years ago), Tanpopo (who couldn't love a movie about the search for perfect ramen?)...and I think I'll like Music and Lyrics once I open up the DVD (trends, trends, trends)
Favorite musicKate Havnevik, Evanescence (I should really take a hint and call/text/email/IM when I'm sober), Liz Phair, (yes, I followed her from Alterna-Liz to Mommy Liz), J-Pop, Dido (hard to guess why - commercial trailer song for "Becoming Jane." Besides being a BRITISH literary genius, she also shares me birth date), Rilo Kiley, Saint Entienne, A Fine Frenzy (Almost Lover - can my life be summed up in a less concise way???), Nelly Furtado (All Good Things - All the time, always playing - really, it doesn't come to an end), Kaci Brown, Goldfrapp, Tegan and Sara, Leona Lewis, Les Miserables Soundtrack (london version, thank you), Sugababes, Bitter:Sweet, ALL of the songs on Grey's Anatomy (practically every name afore-mentioned), Anything and everything you can dance to (whatever state of "mind" I may be in). That song from Deadliest Catch, a 20-second demo made into a real song. I wonder how I can use that in my profile? (I never said I was a computer genius. I'm "akamai" so I'm told but not when you're required to know)...And yes, fun, pop, dance/club, popular at the time songs. Plus, can't forget the karaoke songs I have to sing/scream.
Favorite booksGone With The Wind (since the 6th grade!), Anything AND EVERYTHING on the Tudor/Elizabethan/15th-18th Century British period (especially Elizabeth I, Anne Boleyn, The War of the Roses and books by Philippa Gregory, Jean Plaidy, Sandra Worth...wait, anything to do with British historical fiction from the 12th century - 18th century...I tend to lose interest after the Stuartslose their reign), Karleen Koen, Forever Amber (not a gaudy Harlequin series), Jean Auel, Al Franken (political/satirical/historical), Memoirs of a Geisha (long before the hype), The Potter Series (I am a woman who can admit to this), Les Miserables, The Tale of Genji, The Chronicles of Narnia (note: re-read as an a-dult)....the type of question where you just can't recall one intelligent book you've read in the past two years
