| Introduction | Over the last 8 years I have had the opportunity to visit wineries and taste wines from all over CA from Napa, Calistoga and the Russian River Valley to Santa Barbara to Temecula. I am starting this blog to keep track of the wines I have the pleasure of tasting. Affordable Wine- I appreciate an affordable wine... in the $5 range. Sometimes I may splurge a few extra bucks on a Sangiovese or a Mouvedre since they are harder to find at a low price. Reds or Whites? I pretty much stick to reds... the drier the better. My favorite grapes are Sangiovese, Grenache (Garnacha) and Mouvedre. I started out drinking sweet whites... Gewurstraminers and Reislings... and then my tastes skipped directly to dry reds. I will drink a white if that is all that is available, but my true love is red. I still havent met a wine that I couldn't drink. And if straight up Chardonnay is all you have, then pour me a glass! |
