| Introduction | The South Pinellas Puppy Raisers are a group of volunteers on the west coast of Florida, in and around St. Petersburg, who are raising puppies for Southeastern Guide Dogs, a nonprofit organization located in Palmetto, Florida. Since a guide dog cannot begin its formal training until it is an adult, puppy raisers are needed to nurture the young guide dog candidates and train them in basic obedience. Raisers are also responsible for exposing the puppy to as many experiences as possible to ensure that the adult dog will feel confident in every situation. Our group meets twice a month to share ideas and concerns, and of course to have some fun! |
