| Introduction | I was born and raised in Chicago, went to school in Dayton, lived in Jacksonville, Florida for a while. My life has been shaped by a love for reading, writing, books and music. My father especially took the time to shape the love for reading and the writers who write. The most important book he ever gave me, on purpose, was "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings," by Maya Angelou - I believe every young Black girl should read it. I was raised to believe I could change the world and I'm still crazy enough to believe that! God has created each of us to fulfill a purpose that no one else can do exactly what He has created each of us to do it- that is an awesome blessing and responsibility. |
