IntroductionJoin the Conversation: History & Nature Whether it is a memory of a vanished shop or a sighting of a visiting fox, every observation helps us map the story of our community. We are looking for: Local Memories: Stories of the families, factories, and everyday life in Portslade and Lancing. Vintage Photographs: Images of our changing streets, gardens, and workplaces. Nature Notes: Have you spotted a rare butterfly, a nesting bird, or a hedgehog in your garden? Seasonal Shifts: When did your first snowdrops appear? What’s visiting your feeders this week? History isn't just about the distant past—it is the record we create every day. If you have a story, a photo, or a nature note to share, we would love to hear from you. Help us keep the "Round Up" growing in every sense!
InterestsRevised Personal Profile I am a local history researcher and writer dedicated to preserving the "lost" stories of Portslade and Lancing. My work focuses on bridging the gap between official archives and the lived memories of our community. From the horse-drawn pantechnicons of Franklin Road to the vanished shops of North Street, I aim to ensure that our shared heritage—and the families who built it—are never forgotten. Alongside this historical research, I maintain a meticulous record of the natural world as it unfolds in my own corner of Lancing. By documenting the species that visit and the seasonal shifts within my garden, I aim to create a contemporary "living history" of our local environment. This ongoing project complements my role as the creator and coordinator of "Bloggers: Portslade History Round Up," where we bring together rare photographs and personal recollections to create a comprehensive record of our town's evolution, both past and present.
