| Introduction | Tom, now retired from Kyoto Sangyo University, has a long-standing interest in the love/hate relationship between Japanese and English. Though most of his recent work is on Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) and "Extensive Reading", his Ph.D. is in Japanese linguistics, his dissertation was on the accent system of a small island 40 minutes off the coast of the Shikoku mainland called "Ibuki-jima." |
