| Introduction | I lived in Purdon, Texas until about age 9. These stories are based on composites of people who lived there, and the stories are based on true events reconstructed from my childhood memories with slight embellishment in some cases. Mother always said that small towns were a microcosm of the universe, and Purdon, population about 350 in 1950, the year of my birth, was no exception. Purdon proved to be an adequate training ground for life, and I found in later life that as events called for responses, my mind could home in like a laser on a similar person or event from my past and find a suitable interaction. Primarily, this blog will chronicle life in small towns in the 50s and 60s and hopefully honor my one-of-a-kind mother. |
