Introduction | A variety of life-experiences from driving a cab in Chicago through 15 years as a self-employed carpenter, seven years with the American Friends Service Committee, six years on the Ann Arbor City Council, ten years in publishing with the Dayton Voice and In These Times, and a couple of years with the Illinois Death Penalty Moratorium Project, sprinkled with stints as a freelance writer and organizer have persuaded me that although I can write a very long sentence, focusing on a single area of human endeavor is not one of my strengths. |
